A ceiling fan makes a room feel several degrees cooler for pennies of electricity, and in winter, run in reverse, it pushes the warm air back down off the ceiling instead of leaving it up there. It is the one comfort improvement that pays for itself in both seasons.
The part people do not see is the box. A standard light fixture box is not rated to hold a fan, because a fan is heavy and it moves, and a fan hung off one is a slow motion problem. We fit a fan-rated brace box, which is the difference between an installation and a hopeful arrangement.
