Every device you hardwire is a device that is no longer competing for your WiFi. Televisions, desktops, game consoles, printers and, most importantly, the access points themselves. A house with cable run to two or three good access points beats a house with one expensive router and a lot of hope, every time.
Working from home is where this stops being a hobby. A dropped video call because somebody upstairs started streaming is a work problem, and it is a solved problem.
We run Cat6 to rooms, offices and access point locations, terminate it properly at both ends into wall plates and a patch panel, and test every run rather than assuming. We also do the low voltage runs at rough-in stage on new builds, which is by far the cheapest time to do it.
